These courses are designed specifically for advanced master students, Ph.D. candidates and early career scholars who are working in mobility and access (and related areas) at SSA universities. The courses will be led and facilitated by teams of senior scholars with strong research and pedagogic experience in these areas.

  This short course aims to expose young Sub-Saharan African scholars to and strengthen their capacity in the rudiments of scientific writing and publication. The proposed course has in-built practical sessions to equip the participants with the necessary skills and tools to carry out their emergent academic work, develop and sustain academic careers and contribute to international knowledge production.

  The course will address six core themes, namely: the elements of a scientific argument; critical thinking and writing; the use of theoretical frameworks; thematic analysis; citation and referencing; and navigating the scientific publishing cycle. Participants will develop skills in these core areas through interactive exercises and individual writing tasks.
